 Qatar participates in the Bangkok Dialogue on the Rule of Law

On behalf of HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al- Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior , HE Dr. Hassan Bin Lehdan Saqr Al Mohannadi , the Minister of Justice participated in the Bangkok Dialogue on the Rule of Law; Justice and Security beyond 2015, which was held on Friday, November 15 in the Thai capital Bangkok.

The participation marks the genuine commitment of the State of Qatar to promote the value of the Rule of Law and the pursuit of the goals of the United Nations in this area . The aim of this dialogue is to highlight the function of Rule of Law in the development agenda of the United Nations after 2015 .

The Conference was chaired by Her Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the United Nations Office at Vienna and President of the twenty first- Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice. The Prime Minister of Thailand Yingluck Shinawatra, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs , and Minister of Justice of Thailand, and Bhutan Prime Minister, Indonesian Foreign Minister on behalf of the Indonesian President and Minister of state for Foreign Affairs Japan and the former president of East Timor and a number of principals of colleges and institutes of law and legal experts and civil society leaders from across the world attended the dialogue.

The dialogue came in three topics: “the need for the rule law and security after 2015”, “the relationship between the rule of law and sustainable economic development” , and “the role of civil society and the private sector in the development of a new role in the rule of law." HE the Minister of Justice, met with Her Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha, Chairman of the Conference, and the Prime Minister of Thailand Mrs. Yingluck Shinawatra, and conveyed them the greetings of HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister, expressing his thanks to the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand for hosting the dialogue. He stressed the readiness Qatar to host the next UN Conference on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice to be held in Doha in April 2015 .
