 Qatari-Chinese Preparatory Meeting for UN Crime Congress

As part of the preparations for the Thirteenth UN Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, to be held at Doha in April 2015, a meeting was held between Qatari and Chinese Delegations in Beijing, the capital city of China.

The Qatari Delegation was headed by the chairman of the organizing committee Maj. Gen. Dr. Abdullah Yusuf al Mal, with Dr. Sultan Salmeen al Mansouri, the Ambassador of Qatar to China and Dimitri Vlassis, Chief of Corruption and Economic Crime Branch, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). The Chinese delegation was headed by the Director General of Legislative and Foreign Affairs Department of the Chinese Ministry of Justice along with officials from Chinese Ministries of Justice, Security and Foreign Affairs and supreme court.

During the meeting they discussed key topics to be addressed during the congress, most importantly, the integration of crime prevention and criminal justice into the United Nations agenda in order to address social and economic challenges and strengthen the rule of law, both at a national and international level, together with public participation.
