HE Prime Minister Opens Milipol Qatar 2014

Under the auspices of HH the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani inaugurated the 10th edition of Milipol Qatar 2014 for internal State Security. The three-day event is taking place at Doha Exhibition Center.

The opening ceremony was attended by HE Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal al-Busaidi, the Minister of Interior of Oman, Colonel General Kamaladdin Heydarov, the Azerbaijani Minister for Emergency Situations and Bernard Cazeneuve, the French Interior Minister.

HE Jassem Bin Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti Minister of Transport Qatar, HE Staff Maj. Gen. Saad bin Jassim al Khulaifi, Director General of Public Security, HE Ghanim bin Shaheen Al-Ghanim, Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces Major General (Pilot) and senior security officials from neighboring countries also attended the opening ceremony.

HE the Prime Minster and Minster of Interior spoke to the press and emphasized that Milipol Qatar is the result of cooperation between Qatar's Ministry of Interior and France and noted that the increase in the exhibition's capacity, in regard of participation and number of exhibitors this year reflects Milipol Qatar's previous success. HE the Prime Minister also praised the strong participation from global companies who offered their latest technology in the field of internal security.

French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said that the Milipol Qatar exhibition was a different one as it is held alternatively in Doha and Paris. He added that french companies have been allowed to present their development in security at all levels as it's a symbol of technological progress that the two countries want to achieve in the field of security.

HE Jassem Bin Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti, the Minister of Transport said that this exhibition was more distinct than the previous edition in all aspects.

The DGPS Saad bin Jassim al Khulaifi said that this edition was distinctive from previous editions, as it covers largest area and size showing a growth of 12% with 6055 square meters and with the participation of 261 exhibitors, as well as a large number of pavilions for advanced countries in the field of internal security.

HE the Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces Major General (Pilot) Ghanim bin Shaheen Al-Ghanim said that the exhibition had become a hallmark in the field of the latest security technology in the Middle East and the world.

Four Cooperation Agreements

In the presence of HE the Prime Minster and Minster of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalfia Al-Thani and French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve a letter of intent was signed between Qatar and France. The agreement was signed by DGPS Staff Maj. Gen. Saad bin Jassim al Khulafi and Director General of French National Police. It is a letter of intent associated with training, cooperation, mutual understanding and the exchange of information in the field of security between the State of Qatar and the French Republic.

A cooperation agreement was signed between the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) and the French Gendarmerie. It was signed for the Qatari side, by Brig. Fahd Rashid Al Ali, Director of the Office of the Internal Security Forces(Lekhwiya) Commander and for French side by the Director General of the French Gendarmerie.

Another cooperation agreement was signed in the field of security with the Azerbaijan, which was signed by HE Staff Major General Saad bin Jassim Al Khulaifi, Director General of Public Security and the Interior Minister of Azerbaijan.

The Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) also signed a cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The agreement was signed for Lekhwiya by Brig. Fahd Rashid Al Ali, Director of the Office of the Internal Security Forces(Lekhwiya) Commander and Colonel General Kamaladdin Heydarov, the Azerbaijani Minister for Emergency Situations
