The pavilion of the Ministry of Interior is one of the largest pavilions in the Milipol Qatar 2014, about 1100 square meters in size whereas the total floor area of the exhibition is 6055 sq. m. This pavilion is included with 8 departments, which are General Directorate of Information Systems, General Directorate of Coasts and Borders Security, National Command Centre, Al Adeid, Criminal Evidence and Information Department, Communications Department, General Directorate of Industrial Security Affairs and Community Policing Department.
Brig. Ahmad Abdullah Al Jamal, member of the Milipol Qatar Committee said that the Ministry’s pavilion is an important one that participates in Milipol Qatar since its inception in 1996. The pavilion displays many of the services of the Ministry, like the services and mechanisms rendered by Information Systems Department. The Department has launched this year a new electronic system, through which marine vessels can be registered and can monitor their movements which is first of its kind in an electronic system.
He noted that the International Exhibition for internal state security this year is distinctive by the size of area and the number of exhibiting companies and we hope that it would be featured in number of contacts that would be concluded by the exhibiting companies as well. We expect the number of visitors will reach to the desired ratio. This is the first time that the exhibition works from 10 AM to 6 PM straight, to make it comfortable for the visitors.
Asst. Director of the General Directorate of Information Systems Brig. Abdul Rahman Al Maliki said that The Information Systems Department exhibits a number of projects and systems that have been applied by the department recently. The electronic systems for marine vessels which launched by HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior was the most important one which covers the marine vessels of cruisers, boats, fishing boats and private boats. The services include registration of vessels and movement of ships during entry and exit to the ports of country in addition to the possibility of follow the movement of these vehicles within the territorial waters of the state and watch the delayed vessels that returning to the country and take the necessary measures to follow.
He added that the pavilion also displays the new tablet system for the Traffic Department, which will be launched soon. The Traffic officials can complete the traffic accident procedures at the scene itself with no need to transfer to the department to complete the procedures. This system will be linked through the mobile network and can finish all procedures for registration of traffic accidents and taking photos as well as produce the paper for vehicles maintenance.
Lt. Nasser Abdullah al Khalifa, the officer at Information Systems Department said that the department is also displaying new E Gate system, which was recently installed in the Hamad International Airport, which is a device that the travelers need to merely cross it and not needed to visit the immigration counters. It is required to take advantage of this service to get data through the smart card and pay a service fee of 100 riyals per year and 150 riyals for two years and 200 riyals for three years. This system features iris scan, and finger and face scan. The method is used by smart ID card and E-passport, where it will be placed on the device to open the first door, and the second door will be open while fingerprint is identified. This device works to facilitate the movement of passengers and ease the procedures.
Abdullah Al Jaber , the Acting Director of the General Directorate of Industrial Security said that the department also takes part in the exhibition under the pavilion of the Ministry of Interior, whereas it works with the security systems concerned with oil and gas fields. He pointed that the department uses the latest security devices including the most advanced vehicle which works on satellite network, 3g and 4G also and would send the message to the national command center in a little while. Like that we have detector which can find out all types of gas leak.
A number of official delegates and ambassadors from brotherly countries have visited the pavilion of the Industrial Security Department that proves the importance security systems in industrial sectors. The diplomatic visitors lauded the high level security services presented by the security department.
The Preventive security Department represented by Al Adeid provides communication services between the Ministry and the people. It transfers all reviews and reports of the public regarded with security, crimes and social issues to the concerned departments. Anyone in Qatar can give complaints, suggestions and queries through AlAdeid whereas it gives opportunity for all to do their role in ensuring the safety and security of the country. Lt. Thamer Ali Al Kuwari of National Command Center said that the centre exhibits the programme “Najm” and the system that shows the places of patrol cars and ambulances and their movements. The service sections of the NCC are also displayed like the emergency service number 999 and the way of communicating with different departments like Al Fazaa, Traffic, Civil Defence, Coasts and Borders Security and ambulance.
The Centre also shows the service for persons with special needs on 992. This wing is the consecration of expertise and use of technology assistance and human resources intended to reach up the best level of service provided at the regional and international levels.
NCC also showcases the tasks of the Security Monitoring Section with the use of latest advanced systems that work in coordination with the concerned authority to follow up.
Regarding the stall of Community Policing, Lt. Ali Hassan al Mohannadi said that the department takes part in the exhibition to raise the level of awareness and education of the public and build a bridge between the public and the police through interactions and activities.
He added that the department is concerned to enlighten its vision of community partnership that would present fruitful results in ensuring security and stability for all. He added that the concept of partnership has advanced with the evolution of society, whereas the governmental institutions have joined with the civil institutions and the private sectors to fulfill their roles. So that the community policing pursues safety and preventive awareness programs aimed at reducing crime rates in the community.
