The National Counter Terrorism Committee at Ministry of Interior was established on March 26, 2007, in accordance with the Ministers' Council's Decision No.(7). The committee assumes its responsibilities in one of the most important security areas in order to ensure the achievement of the strategy of countries in the fight against terrorism through the security related efforts and cooperation with the relevant bodies as well as the implementation of the articles of conventions and laws to combat terrorism.
The Committee is one of the largest security committees in the country. It comprises of two members representing Ministry of Interior along with members representing a number of Governmental authorities, which include Qatari Armed Force, Internal Security Forces-Lekhwiya, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Justice, Public Prosecution, Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, Qatar Central Bank and General Authority of Customs and Ports. The Committee is keen to coordinate efforts among all its members to implement the obligations contained in the resolutions of the UN Security Council and the United Nations resolutions relating to combating terrorism.
