Penal and Correctional Institutions Department Receives Delegation from Kurdistan Region of Iraq

As part of efforts to strengthen cooperation and exchange expertise in the field of human rights, the Penal and Correctional Institutions Department received a delegation from the Independent Human Rights Commission in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, headed by Dr. Muna Youkhana Yaqo, President of the Commission. The delegation was welcomed by Major General Nasser Mohammed Issa Al Sayed, Director of the Department, and Colonel Yousef Bilal Al Abdullah, Assistant Director.
The visit included an introductory presentation on the Department’s functions, followed by a field tour of training, rehabilitation, and educational facilities for inmates, including classrooms and the library. It also featured a lecture covering topics related to modern penal philosophy, the role of rehabilitation programs, mechanisms for classifying inmates and managing their behaviour, and the importance of applying human rights standards within correctional institutions.
