Tips & guidelines for visitors to Qatar
Most of the citizens and expatriates are not familiar with the laws and regulations on visas in Qatar. These guidelines will help to avoid falling into violation of entry and residence laws:
- When entering the country on a visit visa, the visitor must confirm the duration of the visit granted to him according to the type of visit visa on which he entered the country. If this visa is a family visit, the visitor will be granted one month. If the visitor wishes to stay more than a month he/she must complete the medical checkup before the end of allowed period and apply for extension. Note that if the visa is not extended before its expiry, a fine of QR 200 for each day of delay (maximum QR 12,000) will be imposed.
- If an expatriate enters on a residence visa he must perform the medical checkup after entering the country within a period of thirty days. After the completion of the medical examination procedures, the fingerprint should be taken and then the residency procedures be completed.
- Upon expiry of the residence permit of the expatriate, he shall renew it within a period not exceeding (90) days. In case of violation to this, he shall be fined 10 riyals per day andwith the maximum limit of 6000 riyals.
