Introduction
The Abu Samra port is the main land port of the State of Qatar and is located on the western-south borders of the country, about 110 kilometers from the city of Doha.
In view of its vital importance in the movement of people and the movement of goods, an administrative committee was established headed by a representative of the Ministry of Interior, and its members include many other bodies in the country.
The formation of the Permanent Committee for the Management of Abu Samra Port came pursuant to Cabinet Decision No. [3] of 2003, and the decision stipulated that the committee should be associated with the Ministry of Interior and representatives from the National Authority for Health, the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture, the Supreme Council for Environment and Nature Reserves, the General Authority for Customs and Ports shall include in its membership, in addition to representatives of some security agencies.
The Abu Samra border witnessed a remarkable development in keeping with the economic boom that our country is witnessing in all fields, facilities, and work mechanisms, and modernizing them to keep pace with the development and growth that the country is witnessing.
- Increasing the number of Qatari cadres, especially females.
- Providing the most advanced technological devices.
- Expanding the use of container security-inspection devices to raise the level of the systems used in them to the operational level and training workers on them to keep pace with development.
- Establishing a computer center at the port to train and qualify new employees in the field of passports, in coordination with the Information Systems Department, so that the employee will be capable to perform all required services.
The Qatari cadres working in the port have been increased, the latest devices and advanced technological equipment have been provided, and centers for training and qualifying employees have been established.
