Department Functions:
- Proposing the annual plan for the department and implementing it after approval, within the framework of the ministry's general policy.
- Participating and coordinating with the Gulf Police Force, the General Secretariat of the Arab Interior Ministers' Council, and the General Secretariat of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) in developing security plans and strategies relevant to the department's work.
- Disseminating, at both the regional and international levels, information about individuals wanted by Qatar, through communication with the General Secretariat of the Arab Interior Ministers' Council and the General Secretariat of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), in coordination with relevant law enforcement authorities.
- Receiving newsletters, studies, and surveys issued by the Gulf Police Force, the General Secretariat of the Arab Interior Ministers' Council specialized Arab bureaus, and the General Secretariat of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) regarding the department's activities, and taking necessary actions in coordination with the concerned authorities.
- Preparing for and participating in meetings, conferences, courses, and seminars held within the annual programs of the Gulf Police Force, the General Secretariat of the Arab Interior Ministers' Council, and the General Secretariat of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) concerning the department's work, taking necessary actions, implementing recommendations and decisions issued, in coordination with relevant entities.
- Receiving and handing over extradition files (case files) related to individuals wanted to and from Qatar, following up and completing procedures in coordination with relevant authorities within and outside the country.
- Receiving, handing over, and extraditing individuals wanted to and from other countries after fulfilling legal and administrative procedures.
- Providing administrative handing over suggestions for wanted individuals and following up on related procedures.
- Receiving inquiries from foreign entities regarding criminal information about certain individuals and responding after coordination with the relevant authorities.
- Developing, strengthening, enhancing cooperation with the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), and relevant regional and international bodies in the field of the department's work, and benefiting from their capabilities and experiences.
- Working on providing suitable opportunities for the personnel of the Ministry of Interior to benefit from the experiences of the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), whether through training courses or through the system of filling vacancies within the organization, through assignment, attachment, or secondment (short or long-term).
- Providing technical supervision for officers sent to training courses in the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) and its various departments, or those assigned, attached, or seconded to work with the organization (short or long-term), and coordinating with the organization regarding the performance of trainees in the courses, the tasks of those assigned, attached, or seconded, monitoring their work, evaluating them, and submitting reports about them to the competent authority within the ministry, with opinions and recommendations, in coordination with other relevant departments within the ministry.
- Training and qualifying in the specialized field of the department and the systems it deals with.
- Supervising the work of the sections under the department, working on their development, and providing their material and human needs in coordination with the relevant authorities to ensure smooth operation.
- Proposing the annual budget of the department.
- Any other tasks assigned.
