Criminal Investigation Department (CID) was established according to the decree No (56) of 2001 issued by HE,  Minister of State for Interior Affairs as a department under the General Directorate of Detectives and Criminal Evidences. In 2005, according to HE State Minister of Interior Affairs’ decision no (7), CDI became under the supervision of General Directorate of Public Security (GDPS). Due to the work expansion, new sections has been established, including Special Investigation Team, Economic Crimes Prevention, and Anti- begging Section to improve the  investigation work performance. The expansion contributed dramatically in the decline of crime rates.
