Functions of the Department

The Criminal Investigation Department is assigned to carry out many tasks and specialties, including:

• Proposing the annual plan of the department, and implementing it after its adoption, within the framework of the Ministry's general policy
• Prevention and control of crime, the receipt of communications and complaints, the gathering of evidences, conducting of investigations entrusted to it in accordance with the law, and uncovering its ambiguity in coordination with other relevant departments and investigating them to produce the culprits for trial.
• Investigation of crimes and the search for perpetrators, and the gathering of evidences necessary for investigation and trial
• Approach all incidents and go with the investigation to inspect the crime scene
• Taking into account the relevant laws, especially the Law No.4 of 2010, the department deals with the investigation of money laundering, terrorism financing, computer, credit card and counterfeiting, in coordination with other concerned parties.
• To combat begging and receive related communications, investigate them, take the necessary measures in accordance with the law, and prepare statistics of information regarding beggars.
• To take the necessary legal measures in the crimes that are held by the competent authority in violation of the provisions of the law number 7/2002 on the protection of copyright, rights and related rights, law number 5/2005 on the protection of trade secrets, law number 6/2005 on the integrated circuit designs and the patents law numbered 30/2006
• Search for missing persons and runaways
• Supervising the work of the sections under the Department and working on developing them and providing their material and human needs in coordination with the competent authorities, in order to ensure the proper functioning of the work
• Propose the draft of annual budget of the Department
• Any other tasks assigned to it
