Functions

Drugs Enforcement Administration (DEA) is specialized in combating drug related crimes in Qatar in its various forms, as well as studying the recent prevention methods and coordinating with different competent authorities involved in combating drugs.

• To combat drug crimes in its various forms and manifestations such as drug smuggling, trafficking, possession, and abusing, in cooperation with the competent local and international authorities.

• To monitor the legal activity of importing, storing and transporting of narcotic substances in cooperation and coordination with the Ministry of Public Health.

• To monitor the ex-convicted in drug trafficking, smuggling, abusing, or drug possession.

• To combat and control cross-border smuggling crimes through air, sea and land ports in coordination with competent authorities.

• To combat and control cultivation or pushing of narcotic plants inside the country.

• To study the recent international drug combating methods and to apply the appropriate methods in the country.

• To cooperate with National Health Authority in transferring the drug addicts and those seeking treatment to it.

• To carry out scientific studies and researches in order to know the reasons and factors leading to drugs abuse.

• To direct and coordinate investigations and intensify its efforts all around the country to monitor the dangerous criminals of drug smugglers, traffickers and suppliers.

• To coordinate at regional and international levels for combating smuggling and trafficking of drugs with international nature, and to communicate with the international and Arab authorities with the aim of enhancing the efficiency in the field of combating this dangerous phenomenon.
