Legal Affairs Department Sections
The department is made up of a number of sections, each section having its owns tasks and specialties which is as follows:
- Legal Studies Section
- Investigation and Prosecutions Section
- Administrative Affairs Section
- Legal Studies Section
The above section undertakes the following tasks:
- Express legal opinion on matters referred to it.
- Preparation of legislative instruments of the ministry and to express an opinion in other law drafts referred to it..
- Research, study and analyze the reports issued by international organizations and bodies related to the Ministry’s competence.
- Study projects of security agreements and memoranda of understanding related to the Ministry work and to express an opinion on the same.
- Preparation and review of administrative contracts (projects) relating to the functions of the ministry.
- Preparation of memos and follow-up litigation that the ministry is a party in
Investigation and Prosecutions Section
The above section has the following tasks to do:
- Study the complaints referred to the department.
- Prepare the necessary reports on complaints referred to it.
- Call witnesses and defendants in disciplinary charges for hearing.
- Participation in investigation committees with the bodies affiliated to the Ministry or not affiliated to it, in topics related to the ministry.
- Prepare indictments for the accused in the disciplinary charges and forward them to the Board of primary discipline.
- Take care of disciplinary proceedings before the Disciplinary Board.
- Preparation of appeals in decisions of primary Disciplinary Board and present those appeals before the Disciplinary Appeals Council.
- Study the grievances of disciplinary sanctions
- Census of disciplinary prosecutions.
- Study and check the requests for erasing the disciplinary sanctions and other penalties imposed on other ranks from the Military, civilian staff, guards and guard of facilities.
- Audit and review the final statements for military promotions to ensure whether there exist any disciplinary or criminal charges against them or not.
- Perform the duties of Secretariat of the Disciplinary Appeals Council.
Administrative Affairs Section
The administrative affairs section functions for the following tasks
- Supervise the administrative and financial aspects of the department..
- Follow-up on incoming and outgoing correspondence of the department
- Preparation of the annual budget of the department, personnel affairs, office and technical needs and supplies of the department
