Traffic Services  - Traffic Planning and safety

Before making or construction or modification of any road, it is required to obtain approval from the Traffic and patrolling Department, which this section is vested with. Its tasks include:

• Drawing general policy for the advancement with the devices and equipment for controlling and monitoring traffic as well as the public study about the land usages in terms of classification of roads.
• Putting appropriate programs between traffic engineering and road engineering
• Study the latest systems used in transportation and traffic planning, fix the places of traffic jam as well as search for technical engineering methods to address them
• Supervise the maintenance of damaged traffic signals and work for its installation in coordination with the competent authorities.
• Complete supervision of the radars and cameras technically and coordination with the relevant authorities.
• Grant permits for street closures and demolition and construction permits as well as approvals for shops, educational centers and kindergarten.
• Seizure of the vehicles carrying overloads through the office of weighing trucks at Abu Samra.
• granting entry and exit permits during prohibition period for trucks
