Functions of the Department 

• Issuance and renewal of driving licenses of all kinds, and replace the lost or damaged licenses with new ones as per the law. 
• Conducting theoretical and road for driving license applicants.
• Registration and licensing of all kinds of mechanical vehicles. 
• Renew vehicle permits after passing  mechanical test and availing insurance policy.
• Export of mechanical vehicles, issuance of certificates of ownership and clearance.
• Issuing number plates (usual and fancy) for mechanical vehicles, and replace the lost and damaged ones. 
• Permits for Transfer of vehicle ownership,  Cancellation of vehicles,  Permits , writing commercial Ads on vehicles, Changing shape or color of the vehicle.
• Classification, sorting and documenting all the data related to mechanical vehicles and driving licenses, checking on the validity of the data and transactions related thereto,  follow-up, modify and correct it.
• Protecting  all the documents,  Keep electronic copies of them as backup , and update them periodically.
• Recording traffic violations, conduct the necessary investigations on them and reconcile with violators as per the law.
• Supervise the work of the Department's sections, and work on the development and provision of material and human requirements in coordination with the competent authorities, in order to ensure proper functioning.
• propose the annual plan for the Department  and implement it  after adoption, in the framework of the general policy of the Ministry
• proposing the annual budget for the Department.
• Any other tasks assigned to the Department
