Nationality and Travel Documents Department

Introduction:

Nationality and Travel Documents’ Department is a service-based department responsible for all measures related to Qatari nationals’ nationality, ID Card, and passports in Qatar or abroad (Qatari embassies and Consulates). Nationality and Travel Documents’ Department work is based on the related laws and regulations which organize its mandate, such as Law No. (38) of 2005 regarding Qatari nationality, and Law No. (37) of 2005 regarding Identity Cards issuance, and Decree No (14) of 1993 regarding passports issuance.

The past few years witnessed an enormous progress in the field of official documents’ issuance in NTDD due to the change from manual to biometric, which resulted changes in both shape and content of official documents (passports, ID Cards, and Travel Documents). NTDD also witnessed noticeable development  in its main office building and branches also, as well as the level of services provided to follow the comprehensive development in Qatar.
