Introduction
The development of the Office of People with Special Needs in the Human Resources Department was one of the key objectives of the Ministry of Interior. The office provides all services to employees with special needs, overcoming any obstacles they face, offering suggestions, providing devices and tools that contribute to creating an appropriate work environment to achieve the goals of integration and empowering them in the practical and community life, and enhancing their participation in activities, events and programs that are appropriate to their capabilities.
According to the directives of His Excellency the Prime Minister and the Minister of Interior, the Office of People with Special Needs in the Human Resources Department was established in 2007. The office handles all affairs of persons with disabilities inside and outside the ministry in coordination with the relevant authorities in compliance with international agreements related to the rights of persons with disabilities. The office also provides various services, activities and programs, such as providing suitable jobs for them by receiving their requests and then qualifying them according to Law No. (2) of 2004 Article (5) regarding people with special needs. It stipulates that (for those with special needs who carry the certificates or cards stipulated in the previous article, a percentage of not less than 2% of the total volume of jobs in the competent authorities will be allocated). Accordingly, the Office of Persons with Special Needs Affairs undertakes the task of coordinating with all relevant departments of the Ministry in order to achieve the policy of the Ministry of Interior in providing the best services to all segments of society, including the people with disabilities, as the Ministry has a major role in society and a partner with other institutions concerned with that category to achieve the vision Qatar 2030.
