Functions of South Security

• Maintaining security and protecting lives as well as public and private properties.
• Prevention of crime, prevent or reduce the opportunities to commit crime using all possible legal methods and tracing the crimes that happened.
• Receive reports and complaints on crimes that occurs within the jurisdiction limits of the Department and complete all investigation procedures.
• Collecting evidence in crimes and investigation as per the law.
• Preservation of public morals, tracing the related crimes,  fighting begging and homelessness.
• Receive  applications for firearms and ammunition licenses, and act according to the law and regulations, and monitor the implementation of controls on possession of firearms, ammunition and explosives.
• Communicate with all segments of society, within the limits of the geographical jurisdiction of the Department, to strengthen its role in the face of social problems in order to combat crime and Prevention

Geographical limitation for functions of South Security Department:

It includes southern region of Stat of Qatar as well as the entire western southern coastal area from Air Force roundabout and Ras Abu Fantas to Sealine area and Khor Al Adeed in south, covering regional islands of State of Qatar and from Hadarama area passing through south of Mesaimeer, south of industrial area, south of Central Prison and Police warehoused to Al Kharara area,  Rawdat Rashid, Al Khafus,  Sudanthel  and to entire borders of the country with Kingdome of Saudi Arabia. Its functional area also extends from Abu Nakhla intersection on general Salwa road to Abu Samra border including  all villages and areas located in south of general road towards Abu Samra.

Important and Major Roads Under the Department’s Functional Area

1. Salwa General Road: it is the only land which connects Abu Samra Border of Qatar with neighbor countries.
2. Mesaieed General Road: it is major road which connects Mesaieed city with Al Wakra and Doha as well as it is one of the busiest road due to importance of Mesaieed Economical City.
3. Road Number (55), Mesaieed / Salwa Road : Most of the trucks enter in this road from Mesaieed while heading towards Industrial Area of Doha and from Abu Samra Border while going out of the country, as most of the products of the country are exported from factories of Mesaieed area and pebbles and sand are brought in only from Mesaieed city.
