Traffic Directorate Celebrate Garangao
As part of its ongoing “Ramadan and Safe Driving” campaign, the General Directorate of Traffic celebrated traditional Garangao fest on Monday, June 29, 2015 at the theater in Traffic Directorate headquarters in Madina Khalifa. The program was organized in a festive atmosphere in presence of large number of kids and families invited for the occasion. The participants interacted with the traditional atmosphere of the night, and took part in the competitions aimed at delivering traffic awareness messages focusing on traffic signals and conditions of security and safety for motorists and pedestrians and children.
The program was attended by Director General of Traffic Directorate Brig. Mohammed Saad Al-Kharji and a number of officers from Traffic Awareness and Media Dept. Garangao bags specially made for the occasion were distributed for the children present.
Lt. Hamad Salem Al-Nabit, Head of Technical Support Section at the Department of Media and Traffic Awareness said that the aim of hosting Garangao celebration at General Directorate of Traffic is to raise the awareness of children and families accompanying them on traffic signals and rules. He added that distribution of phosphorous Garangao bags make the children visible when walking in the roads and neighborhoods so that it will reduce any risk of traffic mishaps.
He added that the phosphoric Garangao bags made by the traffic department distributed with the participation of Bikers group of ‘Soul Rides’ who distributed the bags along Conrniche and other public places. 5000 phosphoric bags in addition to 14000 phosphoric tags were produced by Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Interior in collaboration with Qatar Gas.
The officer urged the parents to supervise the children on the night of Garagao and not to leave them out alone to the roads and public places without taking care of their safety.
