Security Systems Department

Department's Specializations:

1.  Propose the annual plan for the department and implement it after approval, within the framework of the Ministry's general policy.

2.  Implement the provisions of Law No. (9) of 2011 regarding the regulation of security cameras and surveillance devices.

3.  Determine the locations, numbers, and installation points for security cameras and surveillance devices in public places in the country, and supervise their implementation, installation, operation, and maintenance.

4.  Determine the locations, numbers, and installation points for security cameras and surveillance devices in buildings and facilities belonging to the Ministry of Interior, and supervise their implementation, installation, operation, and maintenance.

5.  Determine the locations, numbers, and installation points for security cameras and surveillance devices in establishments.

6.  Specify the technical specifications for security cameras, surveillance devices, and security equipment.

7.  Specify the technical specifications for fixed radar devices and cameras for overtaking from the right, in coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic, and ensure the readiness of the infrastructure at their installation sites.

8.  Supply, install, operate, and maintain fixed radar systems, cameras for overtaking from the right, and license plate reader cameras, in coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic.

9.  Connect the fixed radar systems and cameras for overtaking from the right to the radar control room at the General Directorate of Traffic.

10. Identify the facilities and places that must be linked to the National Command Centre and other concerned departments.

11. Specify the security specifications and requirements that must be met in the security control rooms of establishments.

12. Ensure that cameras and security surveillance devices conform to the required technical specifications and verify their effectiveness.

13. Obtain saved recordings from cameras and surveillance devices from establishments when needed, and provide them to the security authorities.

14. Extract saved recordings from security cameras and surveillance devices required by security authorities, concerning technical matters related to the recording material or surveillance of security devices, excluding those related to criminal reports referred to the Department of Criminal Evidence and Information.

15. Periodically update the technical specifications for security surveillance systems and security devices.

16. Issue a certificate of conformity for the specifications of security cameras and surveillance devices for establishments.

17. License the import of security cameras, surveillance devices, and security equipment.

18. Prepare plans and designs for security surveillance infrastructure services on the country's streets, in coordination with the relevant authorities.

19. Process unclear images and recordings and create a database of the results extracted from the processing for coordination and exchange with security departments, excluding those related to criminal reports referred to the Department of Criminal Evidence and Information.

20. Ensure the safe use of drones, in coordination with the other competent authorities in the state, including coordination with the Communications Department of the Ministry of Interior in all its work related to the field of communications in this regard.

21. Prepare reports and statistics related to the department.

22. Supervise the work of the sections belonging to the department, work on their development, and provide for their material and human needs in coordination with the competent authorities, to ensure the proper conduct of work.

23. Propose the draft annual budget for the department.

24. Any other tasks assigned to it.
