The “Workshop on Developing the Gulf Strategy to Combat Cybercrime and Artificial Intelligence Crimes” commenced today in Doha. Hosted by the Ministry of Interior, the workshop is organized by the General Secretariat of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC), in cooperation with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), with the participation of representatives from GCC countries and a number of experts and specialists in the field of cybercrime.

The opening session was attended by Major General Mohammed Ibrahim Al Jufairi, Director General of Criminal Investigation at the Ministry of Interior; Brigadier Hamad Ajlan Al Otaibi, Assistant Secretary-General for Security Affairs at the General Secretariat of the GCC; and Judge Hatem Fouad Ali, Regional Representative for the Gulf Region at the UNODC Regional Office for the GCC countries.

The workshop aims to enhance Gulf security cooperation and coordination in combating cybercrime and artificial intelligence-related crimes, advance joint efforts in this field, and develop the GCC’s capabilities to address emerging cyber threats. This is in line with rapid technological developments and contributes to strengthening the regional cybersecurity framework.Over three days, the workshop will address a number of topics, including the use of modern technologies in combating cybercrime, ways to establish and develop a unified GCC framework for combating cybercrime, and the development of cyber investigation mechanisms and cross-border exchange of digital evidence.
