In 1973, Police did not have a communication system of their own; they used the communication system of Qatar Armed Forces. In the same year, Communication Section was established in the Ministry of Interior with a single transmission system using VHF and UHF waves. In 1974, the section was expanded by adding a workshop and store for the devices and a control room led by Police (previously) in the Public Command. Towers with antennas were also built in many centers.

In 1975, the communication system covered all the areas of the State using VHF, UHF and Low Band Waves. In 1980, the communication system was updated and a developed and modern operations room was established in the Ministry of Interior completing the network. It became possible to transfer the information without any disruption or interference. The system depended on a multi-channel microwave network to cover all areas of the State.

Then the system was updated and replaced by a system called 'Astro Smart Zone' a digital and encrypted system with approximately 45 active waves. This was all carried out in the same time with the rearrangement of the Central Operations of the Ministry of Interior (MoI).

In 2006, during the organization of the 15th Asian Games, Operations Room was shifted from Ministry of Interior to the National Command Center which is one of the largest operations rooms worldwide. It has a large team representing several departments and they work together under the operations room. It consists of representatives from Traffic Department, Rescue Police (Al-Fazaa), Coasts and Borders Security Department and Civil Defense. Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) has their operations room as well in addition to MoI clients' room and Ambulance operation room in the NCC.

National Command Center (NCC) in the State of Qatar is one the most modern centers in the region. It was established before the 15th Asian Games to control the daily occurrences and major incidents during crises and disasters. It has a large number of Military cadres (Officers and noncommissioned Officers) and civilian cadres from several security and civil authorities and works round the clock.

AVL is Vehicle Tracking system to control and monitor security vehicles, check its security info and issue its movement details. It has several Branch Centers:

• Emergency Service Center (999)
• Operations Center
• Joint Operations Centre
• Field Operations

In the same year, TETRA System was introduced to replace 'Astro Smart Zone'. It’s a digital network that serves private and public mobile wireless networks and thus serves in many different fields. It depends on an advanced technology that offers many features to increase the efficiency of daily work. It also allows direct connection between the devices, user-to-user connection or user-to-group connection.
