Qatari Disaster Victim Identification Team Conducts Field Exercise
The Qatari Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) Team of the Criminal Evidence and Information Department, conducted a field exercise in cooperation with the Police Academy, represented by Ras Laffan College for Emergency and Safety. The exercise aimed to coordinate and enhance cooperation, raise the readiness of team members, reinforce procedures, and train on the internationally approved protocols of the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL).
The exercise included a scenario involving the collapse of a residential building with casualties. The Qatari DVI Team responded to the incident and identified the victims using internationally approved technical methods that consider Sharia, humanitarian, and legal considerations.
The exercise was supervised by Brigadier Dr. Ali Talib Afifa, Director of the Criminal Evidence and Information Department, and Major Abdullah Hassan Al Abd Al Ghani, Leader of the Qatari Disaster Victim Identification Team.
Participants in the exercise included the General Directorate of Civil Defence, the National Command Center, the Criminal Evidence and Information Department , the Forensic Laboratory Department, the Forensic Medicine Center, the North Security Department, as well as the Qatar Red Crescent and the Ambulance Service of Hamad Medical Corporation.
